Memo – Players Etiquette (Issued on 07/09/16)

TO:                 All Bowls Convenors

FROM:         Claudius Lam

DATE:            September 7, 2016

SUBJECT:     Players Etiquette

In our last committee meeting a club representative shared an unpleasant experience when playing at a public venue.  During the final stage of the game his team was annoyed by some negative comments from the players waiting to play in the following time slot.

I would like to remind everyone that lawn bowls has long been regarded as a “Gentlemen’s Sport” and surely we don’t want this to end here.  Maintain a proper etiquette and respect other players are key elements of such tradition.  In fact, always remember the Confucian analects of “What you don’t want done to you, don’t do it to others.” will help to avoid a lot of arguments and will help to make our game such a wonderful creator of friendship.

This is a sport we love and would like everyone to lead it to right way.
