Young Athletes Lawn Bowls Training Scheme

Launched in 2006, the purpose of the Young Athletes Lawn Bowls Training Scheme is to raise the interest of the younger generation towards lawn bowls.

The Scheme employs a systematic approach to cultivate the participants’ bowling knowledge, with the objective of identifying the right talents to fill in the vacancies in the Hong Kong Junior Squad.

Any youngsters between the age of 8 to 17and with basic lawn bowls knowledge are welcomed to enroll.  Selection tests will be conducted in April to qualify applicants to the scheme.  Once admitted, participants will go through the one year training programme of 32 sessions.

There are five training Centres throughout Hong Kong : Victoria Park, Ap Lei Chau Sport Centre, Shatin Siu Lek Yuen Road Playground, Tuen Mun Wu Shan and Hang Hau Man Kuk Lane Park. Each Centre can admit a maximum of 12 participants.

More than 250 young athletes have participated in this Scheme in the past years and a number of them have progressed to further training with the Hong Kong Youth Development Team.

The Young Athletes Lawn Bowls Training Scheme is organized by the Hong Kong Lawn Bowls Association, under the subventions of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department.
