Hong Kong China will become the first Asian city to host the World Bowls Junior Indoor Championship in December this year.
The prestigious event, which allows youngsters from around the world to showcase their bowling talent, was first commenced in 2005 and has been played on 15 occasions. The 2024 event is being played in Asia for the first time ever after being held in Australia, Northern Ireland, Scotland and England previously.
Sanctioned by World Bowls and the International Indoor Bowls Council (IIBC), and hosted by the Lawn Bowls Association of Hong Kong, China, this event is a Major Local International Event funded by the Arts and Sport Development Fund under Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau.
It is opened to players Under 25 years of age from all the members countries around the world. It will be held from December 2-8, 2024 at the Hong Kong Football Club in Causeway Bay.
This year, 42 players from 21 countries and regions will participate in the event, including Australia, Canada, Cook Islands, England, Guensey, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Macao China, Malaysia, Malta, Namibia, Norfolk Island, Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, USA, Wales and Hong Kong China.
This annual Indoor Championship will feature two disciplines, singles for both men and women and mixed pairs. For countries whom don’t have a mixed combination to enter, World Bowls and IIBC will organise to pair them with the opposite gender to ensure all single entries are competing in the mixed pairs event. All finals will be played on December 8.
