Inaugural World Cup and World Junior Cup Bowls Singles 2005
HKLBA were very honoured and prilvileged to be invited by our world governing body, the World Bowls Ltd, to host this grand inaugural event between 3 April and 10 April 2005 at Hong Kong Football Club indoor bowling green and Ap Lei Chau Sports Centre indoor bowling green.
The event was jointly organized by the Association and the World Bowls Ltd, LCSD, World Bowls and our Association provided the financial support for this event. The 19 countries/regions participating were Australia, Botswana, Canada, Canary Island, China, Fiji, Israel, Isle of Man, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Thailand and the USA. China sent her best male player to take part in this highest level of international competition since they joined World Bowls Ltd in 2004.
The event comprised an Open Age group and Junior group (age 18-25) for both men and women. A total number of 51 entries were received, of which 17 men and 16 women competed in the Open Age group and 11 men and 7 women in the Junior group. Hong Kong had four representatives in the events.
