Recently we have received enquiry about changing the rink in the middle of a match and here is our response to it. Please note that due to green shortage, competitors should be considerate and make every effort to compromise to complete the game.
1. Does the Home team have to inform the Opponent team in advance that 2 different rinks are used during a competition, e. g. 2 hours for Rink 1 & 1 hour for Rink 2?
Yes, as a matter of courtesy, the Home side should inform the opponent about this in advance. When continuing the game on a different rink, one trial end at each playing direction is allowed.
2. If the Home team failed to inform the Opponent team in advance, what is the consequence?
There are no rules governing this so there will be no consequences for now.
3. If the home team failed to inform the Opponent team in advance, could it be considered that the Home team is unable to provide the green on the match day & the Opponent team will be considered to win that match?
As mentioned above, there are no rules governing this so there will be no penalty for it.
4. Does the Away team have the right to reject the competition in 2 rinks?
The away team has the rights to object to such arrangement but needs to come up with a recommendation that is acceptable to both teams. Due to greens shortage, it is recommended for teams to negotiate an arrangement that is acceptable to both players.
