Cheung Yuk Fung, who chose Vincent as his preferred English name, was President of the Hong Kong Lawn Bowls Association (HKLBA \u2013 now LBAHKC) from 1999 until his death in 2025.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0was a driving force behind bowls in the former British Colony, which is now a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. Over the years,\u00a0Vincent\u00a0saw through many key organisational changes that meant that bowls not only survived what was known as \u2018The Handover\u2019 in 1997\u00a0(of the colony from the UK to China)\u00a0but\u00a0emerged\u00a0as a vibrant sport enjoyed by indigenous Hong Kongers.<\/p>\n

Thanks,\u00a0in no small measure to Vincent\u2019s influence, there are now more clubs and more bowlers in Hong Kong than ever before, and a dynamic junior development program. Anyone who has attended the Hong Kong International Classic will confirm that Vincent possessed the charm of a soft-spoken diplomat \u2013 but there was no doubt of his strength of character, as he exercised his considerable authority in a quiet, unassuming way, and always had a steady hand on the tiller.<\/p>\n

A tribute from the LBAHK summed Vincent up very well: \u201cVincent dedicated his life to advancing lawn bowls in Hong\u00a0Kong, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy of passion,\u00a0leadership\u00a0and unwavering commitment to the sport. His contributions not only enriched the lawn bowls community but also inspired countless individuals to appreciate the game\u2019s beauty and camaraderie.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is claimed that Vincent holds the record as the longest serving president in any bowls organisation in the world.<\/p>\n

In 2008, Vincent received a Commendation Award from the Hong Kong China Government for his significant contribution to the sport of lawn bowls.<\/p>\n

Vincent was also heavily involved with\u00a0Bowls Asia and joined the Board of Governors\u00a0in 2001, when Hong Kong China hosted the 1st\u00a0Asian Lawn Bowls Championship\u00a0from 17th\u00a0\u2013 23rd\u00a0June\u00a0at\u00a0Craigengower\u00a0Cricket Club and the Hong Kong Football Club.\u00a0He continued to be a driving force\u00a0on the Board of\u00a0Bowls Asia for many years\u00a0working closely with Tun Ahmad from Malaysia\u00a0and\u00a0V.\u00a0Ronalyn Greenless from the Philippines.<\/p>\n

Under\u00a0Vincent\u2019s leadership\u00a0Hong Kong China became a regular host of\u00a0World Bowls\u00a0events including Asia-Pacific Championships and World Junior championships.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
