Message from SBSC Queenie Lai<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A Women rescheduled game played at WS on Jun 1. The weather was extremely hot and met approximately 34 degrees. One lady, act as Lead, felt uncomfortable, stopped playing and took a rest after the 9th<\/sup> end.On the basis of illness, that rink was made up of three players only. Accordingly to the bye-law, that rink will result with 25% scores deducted and the numbers 1 and 2 will bowl three bowls each.<\/span><\/p>\n

If the players cannot use a Set of Bowls as defined in the Laws of the Sport of Bowls then one bowl may not be from the same set.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, the numbers 1 and 2 was not allowed to borrow any bowls from the public counter by the opponent team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Would Claudius clarify the above case?<\/span><\/p>\n

I am afraid that your opponent is wrong. The HKLBA Byelaws 3.5.c allows a bowler to use one bowl from a different set under your situation.<\/span><\/div>\n
On the other hand, I don’t understand how and why your opponent not allowing you to borrow bowls from the venue because this is a public green. To me that’s poor sportsmanship.<\/span><\/div>\n
Another point I would like to clarify is that the 25% deduction only applies to those ends that the player did not participated in, and is not for the whole game.<\/span><\/div>\n

Background<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In view of the present <\/strong>4<\/strong>–<\/strong>rink arrangement at Wu Shan Bowling Green<\/strong> and that <\/strong>2<\/strong> of the 4 <\/strong>rinks <\/strong>are used by LCSD training<\/strong> classes on most Sunday afternoons<\/strong>, only 2 other rinks are left available.<\/strong> We deeply regret that we could not offer any <\/strong>Sunday <\/strong>afternoon sessions <\/strong>to<\/strong> our opponent<\/strong> teams for re-scheduled league games <\/strong>at WS<\/strong>. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If the 6-rink arrangement was adopted<\/strong>, then we <\/strong>could<\/strong> have more options<\/strong> to accommodate rescheduled games.<\/strong> W<\/strong>e hope HKLBA could <\/strong>urge<\/strong> LCSD to <\/strong>consider <\/strong>arrang<\/strong>ing<\/strong> 6 rinks at Wu Shan the sooner the better.
\n<\/strong>F<\/strong>or the re-scheduled game W0323 for <\/strong>TMSA-A vs <\/strong>SBSC<\/strong>-B, we<\/strong> had offered the following three options<\/strong>, namely<\/strong>:
\n1.\u00a0 18\/5\/2014 (Sunday) \u00a011 am\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0 1\/6\/2014 (Sunday)\u00a0 11 am\u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0 1\/6\/2014 (Sunday)\u00a0 7 pm
\nThe second option was the choice made by Ms. Jessie So, SBSC. <\/strong>On 1-6-2014 Sunday, the game was played as rescheduled.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u7576\u5929\u65e9\u4e0a\uff0c\u5929\u6587\u53f0\u5df2\u767c\u51fa\u9177\u71b1\u8b66\u544a\uff0c\u968a\u9577\u6709\u8cac\u4efb\u63d0\u9192\u968a\u54e1\u5011\u7167\u9867\u9ad4\u8cea\u8f03\u5f31\u7684\u968a\u53cb<\/strong>\u3002<\/strong>\u7576\u5929\u6240\u898b\uff0c\u4e8b\u4ef6\u524d\u5f8c\uff0c\u6211\u65b9\u968a\u54e1\u5c0d\u9673\u5b78\u8ce2\u5973\u58eb\u7684\u95dc\u9867\u6bd4\u5979\u7684\u968a\u53cb\u6709\u904e\u4e4b\u800c\u7121\u4e0d\u53ca<\/strong>\u3002\u672c\u4eba\u4ea6\u89aa\u81ea\u642c\u6905\u5b50\u5230\u7c3d\u5834\u6ac3\u53f0\u524d\u7684\u5e33\u7bf7\u4e0b\uff0c\u7d66\u5979\u4e58\u6dbc\u3002<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/em>\u6211\u8a18\u5f97\u7576\u6642\u5c0d\u65b9\u6709\u63d0\u904e\u63db\u6652\u53e6\u5916\u4e09\u96bb\u6ce2\uff08\u53ef\u80fd\u662f\u57fa\u65bc<\/em>\u201csame set of bowls\u201d<\/em>\uff09<\/em>, <\/em>\u800c\u6211\u54cb\u53c8\u5411\u5979\u5011\u63d0\u904e\u7403\u4f8b\u5167\u7684<\/em>\u201c<\/em>\u4e0d\u80fd\u63db\u6ce2<\/em>\u201d rule<\/em>\u3002<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u5176\u5be6\u7576\u6642\uff0c\u6211\u5011<\/em>feel puzzled of the 2 rules: “same set of bowls” & “<\/em>\u958b\u8cfd\u4e2d\u4e0d\u53ef\u63db\u6ce2<\/em>“<\/em>\u7684\u76f8\u5c0d\u77db\u76fe\u6027\u3002\u6211\u4eec\u4e26\u4e0d\u77e5\u9053\u6709\u76f8\u95dc\u7684\u7279\u6b8a\u60c5\u51b5\u7403\u4f8b\u3002\u76f8\u4fe1\u5c0d\u65b9\u4ea6\u4e0d\u77e5\u9053\uff0c\u5426\u5247\u5979\u5011\u6703\u53cd\u5c0d\u548c\u5805\u6301\u6362\u6ce2\u6216\u5c0b\u6c42\u8cc7\u6df1\u7403\u54e1\u548c\u7e3d\u6703\u5373\u6642\u8655\u7406\u3002<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u4e8b\u60c5\u53ea\u6e90\u65bc\u6211\u5011\u5305\u62ec\u5c0d\u65b9\u90fd\u4e0d\u5b8c\u5168\u4e86\u89e3\u7403\u4f8b\u7684\u5168\u90e8\uff0c\u624d\u51fa\u73fe\u9019\u69d8\u7684\u8aa4\u6703\u3002\u9019\u5b8c\u5168\u548c<\/em>sportsmanship<\/em>\u4e0d\u95d7\u9023\u3002<\/em>
\n<\/em>\u6211\u5e0c\u671b\u6211\u80fd\u5e5a\u52a9\u89e3\u91cb\u9019\u500b\u4e0d\u7f8e\u9e97\u7684\u8aa4\u4f1a\u3002\u4ea6\u76f8\u4fe1\u61c9\u5411<\/em>HKLBA<\/em>\u53ca\u518d\u6b21\u5411\u6d77\u9ce5\u6f84\u6e05\u53ca\u89e3\u91cb\u3002\u4ee5\u548c\u70ba\u8cb4\u3002\u8b1d\u3002<\/em>Estella.<\/em>\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u7576\u6642\uff0c\u672c\u4eba\u88ab\u9080\u524d\u5f80\u4e86\u89e3,<\/strong> \u8cfd\u4e8b\u5df2\u5230\u7b2c<\/strong>10<\/strong>\u5c40\u3002 \u5c48\u592a<\/strong>(<\/strong>\u5f35\u60e0\u73b2\u5973\u58eb<\/strong>)<\/strong>\u5df2\u767c\u51fa\u76ee\u6a19\u7403, \u5979\u5728\u5730\u84c6\u65c1, \u6211\u554f\u5979\u6709\u81ea\u5df1\u6728\u7403\u5426, \u5979\u8aaa\u53ea\u6709\u5169\u500b\u3002 \u6211\u5efa\u8b70\u5979:\u300e\u53bb\u501f\u6ce2\u5566\u300f, \u5c48\u592a\uff1a\u300e\u6211\u7528Linda \u6ce2\u5514\u5f97\u54a9\u300f\u3002\u6211\u56de\u7b54\uff1a\u300e\u5f97,\u5462\u500b\u4fc2\u4f60\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u9078\u64c7\u300f\u3002\u5f35\u5973\u58eb\u6b23\u7136\u5730\u4e0a\u84c6\u767c\u51fa\u6efe\u7403\u3002<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I have<\/strong> two suggestions for HKLBA <\/strong>to consider in<\/strong> handling this \u201cenquiry\u201d:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  1. 1. <\/strong>For enquiry purpose<\/strong>s<\/strong> or as a case study, <\/strong>is it necessary for<\/strong> HKLBA<\/strong> to <\/strong>mention the exact date \/time\/ venue\u2026 <\/strong>and other <\/strong>details<\/strong> which might not be of significance<\/strong>?
    \nTo me, that <\/strong>\u201c<\/strong>enquiry<\/strong>\u201d<\/strong> sounds like an accusation <\/strong>against<\/strong> TMSA rather than an enquiry<\/strong> while<\/strong> we have no <\/strong>opportunity<\/strong> to clarify it before your publication.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
  2. 2. <\/strong>For this simple case, we can simply consult the Rule book and have the straight answers. HKLBA should remind our convenors and players that they could consult the relevant documents before resume the games in case of disputes. By the way, HKLBA should send Ms. Lai a copy of Rule book, and this may reduce the workload of Mr. Claudius Lam.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Mr. Claudius Lam, attached is the image of the relevant score card<\/strong>. <\/strong> The total scores of SBSC-B from 10th<\/sup> to 18th<\/sup> ends were originally 6 shots. After reduction of 25% in view of the absence of 1 player during those ends, the scores were adjusted to 4.5 shots. Is this <\/strong>correct?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
