CELBC – Mr Herbert Tse has a enquiry about New Laws of the Sports of BowlsPlease elaborate more about the part of Trial ends:<\/span><\/p>\n

“Each player must not use more than the number of bowls being used during the game. If a player or an umpire notices that a player is using more than the permitted number of bowls, the defaulting player will lose the right to play any bowls remaining to be played in the trial ends.”<\/span><\/p>\n

For example, in a fours game, a player will play two bowls. Does it mean that he can only use 2 bowls for trial, say one “A bowl”, one “B bowl” of different models for the two trial ends. He cannot use more than two bowls, say one “A bowl”, one “B bowl”, one “C bowl” of different models for the two trial ends.<\/span><\/p>\n

Or does it mean in a tournament, a player can have the trial ends if he has never played on the green before (e.g. he was bye). He will be entitled to have the trial ends while his opponent does not have. This amendment is to restrict his no. of trials.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dear Herbert<\/span><\/p>\n

The Law only apply to the number of bowls used during trial ends, not the type of bowls being used, so a player can still use different models of bowls during trial ends.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Hong Kong all trial ends will be two bowls only, no matter it is a singles, pairs, triples or fours game.<\/span><\/p>\n

On your last question, trial ends at open tournament will depends on the Rules of Competition and up to the Controlling Body to decide. There is no change to the current arrangement.<\/span><\/p>\n
